Sunday Indoor Flyers

Greetings Checkerboard Members:

It’s just a tad bit cold for many of us to be outside during these days of February and March, so we are happy to announce the Forest Park Community Center has opened up the Howard Mohr Community Center to Checkerboard members.  This is the same facility where indoor flying was held a couple years ago.  Unfortunately, only tiny whoop drones would be able to be used in the facility( or we could also inquire about small indoor planes).  These are drones that are about 65-75mm across and weigh about 19-40 grams.  All skill levels are welcome.  Of special interest would be to anyone that is interested in what this madness is all about or anyone that may need some build/repair help—there will be knowledgeable people there and we will get you flying that same day.

Here is some action from a couple years ago:

Gates will be set up; however, all skill levels will have the opportunity to fly (open flying, practice flying through gates or fun timed racing).  If enough people attend, participants will be assigned to a heat and a channel.  Four pilots will be able to fly at one time.

The location is  Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd in Forest Park on Sundays in February (March TBD). Link to google maps:

The facility will be open from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.  Please enter through the east door.

Due to social distancing, we are limiting participants to 14 fliers.  If interested, please sign up with the form at the bottom of the page.

First come first served.  If space is available after Wednesday, non-club members will be notified of the events and if they choose  to join Checkerboard, will be eligible to fly with us.

Dates and times: Sundays, noon to 4pm through the end of March

Special thanks to Becky for setting this up for Checkerboard!!! If you have any questions, please let us know.
